The Albatroz Hotel

"Nice quiet hotel - lovely location with dining room over looking the beach and also very near pedestrian area and marina with lots of restaurants"

"This was not a five star experience. The hotel location and entrance is not pleasant. The hotel is by the train station and the beach so lots of unsavoury characters around. We checked in and reception asked if we wanted a table for lunch - We said we did and they said they could book. We dropped our bags upstairs and went to the restaurant. I asked for our table and said we had booked. The manager said you didn’t book with me and I said no we booked with reception. The reply was so rude I was taken aback. He replied « are reception going to come and serve you then? » - unacceptable. The service overall was not what I would expect at all. Breakfast was good but we were not offered the opportunity to order à la carte items. The beach that sits below the pool area is a real problem. On two of the three days we were there it was filled with rowdy teenagers playing loud music which meant we could not enjoy the pool area. On the first day we were there a brawl broke out with a bunch of teenagers having a fist fight. A girl tried to help and was punched in the face. I asked the hotel to call the police. My daughter was so upset we had to leave the pool. Overall the experience was disappointing. The room we slept in was very nice."

"This was probably our best experience in a hotel ever. The Hotel Albatroz is located directly on the beach on the coast of Portugal just north of Lisbon. We stayed in the old house section. The old world charm, the service, the food, the pool, with the view over the rocks and the beach, everything was divine. Every member of the staff was kind, helpful, and professional. Our room had a little stone balcony with chairs where we could sit every day and look out over the ocean, while having a glass of Port provided in our room for free. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed. Everything was considered. Every need was provided for—from the nice robes and slippers, beach bag and towels for swimming, evening turn down, to the 24 hour service. We were able to relax and enjoy the beauty of the town, walking out each day and evening on the lovely tiled streets to dine on delicious seafood. Also, we had dinner in their lovely restaurant. looking out on the ocean and I would say it was equal to a Michelin star restaurant in the presentation and service that we received. It is about a two minute walk to the train station so we were able to leave with our suit cases on our last day, and jump directly on a train to Lisbon. Which was only a few euros for a ticket. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if it is within your price range. It was a little more than we usually budget for a hotel, but it was our first vacation in a long time and let me tell you it was worth every penny."
