"The hotel is located in a stunningly beautiful and rural location facing mountains and the coast and each apartment sits on its own in lovely garden surroundings. It was next to the famous rose garden which unfortunately was closed. The apartment was spacious and adequate for our needs and even had a small hob and fridge and kettle which was very useful. The apartment was clean and cleaned every day. The location was wonderfully quiet and peaceful and we could hear frogs croaking at night. The breakfast building ( Roseira Tea House) was a short 5 minute walk away and we ended up eating most of our evening meals there too as without a car it was not really possible to get to anywhere else to eat in evenings. Although we managed to get around on buses, they take ages and are not very frequent, you really need a car to make the most of being in this hotel. We did a lot of walking but because roads are so steep be sure to bring walking boots and walking sticks if you’re walking. The service was fine - staff can organise car hire if needed. It would have been good if there had been organised excursions from the hotel. The breakfasts and evening meals were great and not too expensive. We unfortunately very bad weather in March and it rained every day but this we were told was very unusual for this time of the year."
