"I am reviewing this hotel as somebody who ran my own hospitality business for 27 years (9.6 rating on Booking.com). We had two superior rooms - 315 & 415. Cost 492.38 Euros per room for 3 days. Total 984.76 Euros. Room only. The outside of the building was lovely. The reception staff were not warm or friendly. The Lobby area was nice and modern. No bar or restaurant. No atmosphere. No soft music. On our second night we went to the Hotel De Londres which was nearby and had a beautiful bar with a lovely relaxing atmosphere, sea-view, soft music, bar food & inexpensive drinks. The bedrooms in Sercotel Europa were reasonably spacious. The decor was very tired. The carpet outside the door of one room had a large white paint stain that wasn't cleaned up. There was no room in the fridge to put in some wine or milk. Minimal tea and milk sachets. No toilet paper in one room. Had to get some from reception. No air conditioning. Staff told us to open the window. Not possible due to street noise. No sleep for two of the three days due to a parade of party-goers all night long - Noise (drunken shouting) started at 12/1 am and finished around 6 am. Street cleaning/bin lorrries started when the party-goers finished. Inadequate sound-proofing. Disturbance from room next door - knocking to get in late at night & toilet flushing. Bathroom desperately in need of maintenance and proper cleaning. Cracked tiles. Rusted radiator & some fittings. Stained vanity unit. Edge of the shower basin was rusted. Dirt/mould in corners of the patio door in the bathroom. Standard of cleaning was poor. No ventilation. Breakfast x 1 day was just ok. Did not eat there a second day. Not asked when departing if we enjoyed our stay. Staff disinterested."
