Las Marismas de Corralejo

"We recently returned from a 7-night family holiday at Las Marismas de Corralejo. Overall, it’s a lovely 3-star property with brilliant spaces for families, though the all-inclusive elements could use some improvement. The Room: We were incredibly impressed by the size of our room upon arrival, it felt like a large apartment. It featured a huge central lounge, dining, and kitchen area, with two very large bedrooms on either side of the suite. This layout was perfect for privacy; as two adults on one side, and our two children (aged 11 and 9) on the other, we all had our own space. There was also a massive balcony accessible from both the living area and one of the bedrooms, with views of the nice landscaping around the hotel. The Grounds & Pools: The landscaping is beautiful, with an impressive range and volume of cacti. A massive highlight for the kids was the "Cat Cafe" area, a naturally landscaped rocky zone filled with cats. Our room was accessed via a bridge directly over this area, and the children loved spotting the cats and even a few geckos from it. The pools were a great temperature. Visiting during the third week of May (outside of UK school holidays), the guest capacity felt perfect, not too quiet, but never overcrowded. It picked up a bit during our final two days, but finding sunbeds was never an issue. Food & Drink: We stayed All-Inclusive, and while we appreciated the easy access to the restaurant and the convenient pool bar, we weren't impressed with the quality. Breakfast was perfectly fine, but lunch and dinner were disappointing. The food and drinks are OK, but just not great quality. If they upgraded the AI drink options and food standards slightly, we would happily book All-Inclusive here again. Location & Activities: The location is good. It’s a 30 mins transfer from the airport, and a pleasant 15-minute walk down into the main Corralejo hub and beach, which is packed with chiringuito-style bars, restaurants, and beautiful views. On-site activities like mini-golf were appreciated, and the gym was large and well stocked, impressive got a hotel gym. The Acua Water Park is literally right next door within walking distance. It cost us £92 for a family of four, which was a fun day out. We would definitely return to this hotel because of the amazing room size, location, and natural feel, but we might rethink the all-inclusive option next time!"

"Fantastic week at Las Marismas. Our room was spacious with beautiful wooden furniture and comfortable beds. It was cleaned several times during our stay. Bath and pool towels provided and changed regularly. Atmosphere is calm and welcoming, staff very helpful! Pools are great, lots of shade under parasols however sunbeds do get saved as early as 8am (pool opens at 10am) despite the hotel saying it doesn't allow this. Food at pool bar is lovely, be aware any food or drink is added to your bill to be paid before check out. Check this carefully and keep your own running total. Ate at restaurant once, lovely buffet selection (again added to bill attached to room if not all inclusive). Entertainment runs to around 10pm each night. Several mornings we were woken by slamming of nearby doors, furniture being dragged above and suitcases rolled past. This is more of an issue with other guests being respectful than the hotel but worth bearing in mind. The grounds are beautifully clean and maintained to a high standard. If booking excursions, speak to reception, they can make bookings on your behalf, most with transfers to and from hotel entrance. Location is great, short walk to shops and restaurants (We recommend Asia Garden, Retro and Sotavento) though there are many choices for more explorative eaters. 1 day car hire enough for exploring north of island. Overall a wonderful first abroad holiday for 13 years and we would return. Muchos Gracias Las Marismas"

"We’ve just returned from 7 nights at Las Marismas. We travelled as a family of 5 with our 3 daughters, aged 10, 8 and 5. We had apartment 1246, which was huge, 2 bedrooms with a triple balcony. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy. The kettle, microwave etc. were spotless, and the bathroom was really big. The décor was dated, but honestly I didn’t care too much as cleanliness matters more to me. There’s no air con, as mentioned many times before, but the remote-controlled ceiling fans worked well even in 28-degree heat. The cleaners looked after the apartment well and came in on many days during our 7-night stay. The main pools were heated, which was lovely. The sunbeds were comfy too, and the padded cushions were a nice touch as you don’t always get that. Entertainment-wise, the singers were all genuinely talented and performed really well. Special mention to “Bruno Mars’ brother” and the band 😅 Food-wise, we only ate there once for breakfast and once for dinner. Maybe we went on an off day, but I wasn’t impressed. We went on international night and found most of it very tasteless. The spaghetti and sauce were bland, and the chicken kebabs left a lot to be desired. Even the cakes looked great but tasted almost dusty, very odd. Breakfast was basic and nothing to write home about. I’m glad we went self-catering, as I think I would’ve struggled with the food if we’d gone all-inclusive. That said, each to their own, and I’m sure lots of people enjoyed it. The food around the pool was nice though, fresh chicken baguettes were about €6 from memory, pizza was around €10, and chunky chips were €3.50. Everything was well presented. Everything gets charged to your room rather than paying there and then, so it’s worth clearing your balance every few days at reception to avoid any surprises. Although the hotel advertises daily entertainment like water polo etc., we didn’t actually see any during our stay. Same with the kids’ club, we never saw anyone coming around to encourage the kids to join activities. There was also no mini disco that we could find. Apparently there was one after kids’ club at 4:45, but we never saw it. We also walked up to the playground but couldn’t find a way in! The arcade games all use coins rather than contactless payment, and the vending machines are the same. Contactless would definitely be more convenient. The supermarket on site was handy and reasonably priced, but in hindsight I’d probably have gone to the Spar on the main strip for better value on snacks, tea, coffee etc. The location was great, about a 10-minute walk to the top of the strip and around the same to the water park. It was also maybe 8 minutes the other way to El Campanario shopping village, and around a 15–20 minute walk to the beach. Lovely spot overall. We had a late flight home and checkout was at 11am. Late checkout was only available until 12, so we didn’t bother, but they let us continue using the facilities. There was a luggage room, shower room if needed, and even pool towels available. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again if we return to Corralejo."
