Lara

"We have been to the Lara a couple of times before quite soon after the renovation. We had a good week here, we think the cleaning of the rooms is great, 3 times a week and the pool/maintenance guys do a great job of cleaning the pool area every day it is spotless. We had a balcony but to be honest, the ground floor apts are great as you can sunbathe outside your room. Beds are really comfy and the rooms seem to be quite well insulated and quiet, we slept really well. The pool was lovely and warm and even though the place was full every day there were few using the pool and no problems with sunbeds. We had bed and breakfast which was great, it saw is pretty much through to the evening. A big shout out to Annie and Cynthia who do breakfast, lovely friendly ladies. Just be warned, you are at the very top of Puerto Rico so expect a 725 steps walk down or a taxi both ways if you don't want to eat every day in the Europe center. Also the Lara reception seems to be permanently closed so during the day you can check in with the staff in the bar/restaurant (apart from a Sunday). If you arrive on a Sunday or in the evening you will be dropped at the sister hotel the Nido which is directly behind. After checking in there, it is a bit tricky to get to the Lara if it is dark as you have to go up the steps, around the restaurant, up some more steps, across a little bridge, out your hand through the bars to zap your key card to open the gate to get into the Lara complex! Good luck!! Also if on b&b or half board the Lara restaurant is shut on a Sunday so you have to eat at the Nido which is definitely a good few steps down in class than the Lara so was a little unhappy about this! The bar is reasonable for drinks at the Lara and they do happy hour 11-1 and 3-5 so that is definitely a bonus. The Lara is a VERY quiet complex, average age is around 70 so don't book here if you want a lively place as there is no entertainment or music. Enjoy!!"

"Super Adult only apartments just over the road from the Europa centre. Rooms are well equipped and the air con was much needed. We stayed on the ground floor and was ideal as you could sunbathe on your patio and then a couple of streps and you was in the pool."

"An enjoyable stay in these apartments. Nice clean upto date apartment with aircon in the bedroom and the lounge included. There was no rush for sunbeds in the morning and there were plenty to go around. The pool and grounds are well maintained and cleaned. It's opposite the Europa shopping and restaurant centre which we used regularly. You can walk to both beaches in about 25 minutes. A taxi back up was between 5 and 8 euros depending where you are. We managed to get a late checked out for an extra 30 euro's u till 6pm that evening. Recommended apartments."
