Abora Interclub Atlantic by Lopesan Hotels

"Stayed for 6 nights the beginning of January. Positives : -Beautiful pool area, set in lovely gardens. Plenty of sunbeds. -Food, not a huge amount of choice, but on the whole ok ( always cold though). The meat was especially tasty, well cooked and tender. Negatives: - Food cold and repetitive. - Only reception area (scruffy/dirty seating) to sit inside when cold at night. Unfortunately it was really cold every night we were there, so not enough seating. This meant we had to go out of the hotel to other bars, just to get warm. - Poor entertainment - Unfriendly staff - No atmosphere - Advertised as 24hour food and drinks, however the food is in one small cabinet and was usually empty. - Mouldy curtains, dated accommodation buildings, poor upkeep. We would not stay in this hotel aga -"

"So, just killing some time as we wait for our airport transfer and I have to say it’s been a pleasant visit to the Abora Interclub Atlantic. The outside space is absolutely fantastic and the amenities are great from the pools, the slides (the blue one is fast!), the football court and the gym area were all very much enjoyed by my son and I. He’s not one for shows so we only caught the first night and have to say some impressive acrobatic strength on display from the guy with the chairs! Pool temperature was absolutely fine so if anyone thinks this is cold they need to have a word with themselves! Food is plentiful but as with most trips abroad, it becomes same samey very quickly and the isolated nature of the hotel means there’s not a great deal unless you fancy a 25 min walk or a taxi into Maspalomas etc Have to say the staff were all very polite and welcoming and a special shout out to the cleaning crew who work tirelessly ensuring there’s nothing on the floors in the snack bar area. Fastidious bunch who take pride in their work. Some things I found a little archaic, the need to rent a safe! Not the end of the world but what I paid for the trip I’d expect such things to be inclusive. €2 a day in case you’re wondering so remember to do this at check in to save another trip back to reception later. Now, the rooms were cleaned daily and were perfectly adequate for a nights sleep. The TV on the occasions where some respite from the sun is required and believe me, it was! There’s BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 a few scrolls in so a bit of home from home if there are those that require it. The only thing that really frustrated me more than anything was the fact when I turned over (and I’m an active sleeper) the whole bloody bed moved! Even my son suffered the same disturbance! Having looked under the bed to see if these wheels could be “locked” into place, alas not! Note to the hotel, beds that don’t move please! Lots of talk about the isolation of the hotel, yes there’s nothing around shops wise but I knew that before booking so was not really an issue for us although we did get a taxi to Taurito and Maspalomas so there’s plenty to see/do if you take a trip outside of the complex. Overall, a solid 4/5 for me. Probably wouldn’t book the same hotel again but it wouldn’t stop me returning to Gran Canaria in the future."

"Someone needs to explain to this hotel what "All Inclusive" really means. The package should be called "Something Included" instead. When you book an all inclusive stay, you expect everything to be included. However, that is not the case here. If you want a natural juice, you have to pay extra. If you want a cocktail, you have to pay extra, Ice cream?? You have to pay extra. There is a free Ice cream, but they are hide. Even to play Snooker, you have to pay. And I paied a extra for Branded beers hahaha.. they just had one beer... I'm very disappointed..."
