Zafiro Tropic and Spa

"Sadly, we left Zafiro Tropic with an unpleasant taste in our mouths. For the most part, our family enjoyed our stay. The entertainment team were fantastic, the reception staff were excellent, and the bar staff provided good service throughout our holiday. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the standard of food and the way a serious complaint was handled. Following a very poor chicken schnitzel meal that was inedible and had to be returned to the kitchen, we lost confidence in the restaurant and ended up eating out every day for the remainder of our stay. What was even more disappointing was the response from Pep Escalas (Director) and Antoni (Duty Manager), who failed to address our complaint satisfactorily. There was no real resolution, accountability, or effort made to put things right. It’s often the little things that make the difference between a good holiday and a great one, and unfortunately this issue overshadowed what had otherwise been an enjoyable week. It didn’t ruin our holiday, but it certainly left a very sour impression—quite literally. Based on our experience with the food quality and the management’s handling of a legitimate complaint, I would not recommend this hotel. A hotel can have great facilities and excellent staff in many departments, but if guests cannot trust the food being served or expect concerns to be taken seriously, that is a significant problem."

"Great location smells like 💩💩💩 Unfortunately we had a problem with a leaking Air Conditioning unit that soaked the contents of our wardrobe. We needed to pack up and move to a new room on day 5 of a week long holiday. I appreciate 💩💩 happens but communication was poor and the palava cast a dim shade on the last 2 days of holiday. Once I reported the issue I headed out to the beach and was called to come back and move a few shirts still hanging in the wardrobe. I was advised I would be called if we needed to move rooms. Nobody called but after queuing for the 5th time of the day at reception I was told to move to the room next door. Transferring everything including the fridge contents in 30c with no AC was not much fun. I asked if we could be compensated and received a voucher for a meal. When used this was for the dregs of the buffet on sea food night. We had 20 minutes to eat something and were refused to sit at the empty tables in the bar to see 'the entertainment'. Instead we looked at the empty tables and did enjoy a free bottle of wine and a soft drink. I wouldn't have kicked up a stink, however the room we were moved to stank of 💩💩💩💩. It stank all day and night and nothing would improve the smell. As a family we prefer not to eat in the sewers with Splinter and the Ninja Turtles and ended up throwing away food and stayed out as much as possible. I was given air freshener which did nothing on the 💩💩💩 but amused my young daughter to spray. From studying recent reviews, bad smells from mold, leaks and dodgy AC is a known and ongoing problem at Zafiro Tropic. The 💩💩💩💩💩 in certain rooms is seemingly known to hotel management but guests are still allocated these rooms. I feel insulted we were shunted into a room with known problems and when I raised with reception staff and managers I was told the hotel Director would advise what to do. Obviously nobody ever called me back, I suspect the Director must be busy counting their Euros or googling legionnaires disease symptoms. If staff could have acknowledged the issue and said, I'm sorry or that's a bit 💩💩💩💩 for you I would have been half way appeased. This didn't happen, hence the 💩💩💩 review. I'm trying to laugh now but the last 2 days were 💩💩💩💩 in this hotel and it was the most expensive holiday I have ever booked. I would be very cautious of checking rooms for anyone arriving. Look for leaking AC, water stains, 💩💩💩💩 smell, black mould, blocked drains and signs the floor has lifted from leaks. Our rooms were 2203 and 2202. Had this not happened I would have awarded 4 stars. Great location close to the beach, shops and restaurants, a great range of different pools that our daughter loved, a lovely adult only area, spa, and a basic gym. The evening entertainment was not great but the performer blowing big bubbles was quite cool. The kitchenette was OK but small with very basic appliances so it was difficult to prepare meals compared to other self catered apartments I have stayed in Mallorca. The second room had no hot water in the kitchen but no big deal for a couple of days. All in all, a bit of a 💩💩💩show."

"We had a fantastic time at this hotel with our young kids (2 and 5) when we went in half term. Excellent room (one-bed apartment) - big balcony, kids bed that easily slides into the sofa to give more space, spacious cot for our toddler, very big and comfy bed. Great shower. The pools and splash park were busy but the quiet pool round the back was a great escape. The kids loved the splash park in particular. Food was amazing - good quality and huge variety. Lovely to sit outside as well. Great proximity to the (lush) beach, port, town and amenities. Only downside was the entertainment was a bit iffy and there is a dangerous plant area in the main lobby which I tripped over and hurt myself in - saw others do the same too. So be careful. Would definitely return again! Gracias!"
