"We recently stayed at Hotel Palia Dolce Farniente and overall had a mixed experience. The rooms are nice, modern, and have clearly been updated recently. The food was also good with plenty of options available throughout our stay. The staff behind the bars and in the restaurant were very friendly and hardworking, although many of them didn’t speak much English. Unfortunately, the reception staff were definitely not the friendliest. We spoke to around four different reception staff members during our stay and, apart from the lady we spoke to when checking out, they were not particularly welcoming and didn’t speak good English. The lady at checkout was very friendly and helpful — we just wish we had got her name. One thing that should definitely be noted is the tourist tax. Before booking, I researched whether this hotel charged tourist tax because some hotels do and some don’t, and everything I found suggested this hotel did not charge it. However, on arrival we were asked to pay over €46 in total for two people, which was quite unexpected. The biggest issue with this hotel, however, is the complete lack of inclusion for anyone who is not French. Everything is heavily catered towards French guests only. All of the entertainment was entirely in French, most of the staff spoke French, and there was no entertainment provided in any other language. This hotel should really be labelled as a French-speaking hotel because no effort seems to be made to include guests of other nationalities or languages. What we found especially strange and quite excluding was that one day there was even a “French only meeting” specifically for French guests. We honestly thought this was quite out of order and made other guests feel left out. On a positive note, the manager was very nice, spoke good English, and seemed approachable, although unfortunately we didn’t get his name either. Overall, while the rooms and food were good, the hotel mainly caters for French guests and other nationalities do not feel particularly included."

"Hotel lovely. Food very good.clean towels changed daily. Staff are friendly. Only problem is the entertainment only french speaking.we have had a lovely holiday and would recommend this hotel."
