Melia Palma Marina

"We stayed four nights The reception/ lobby/ bar/ restaurant / breakfast area is all open plan and very modern and open Steps could be an issue for elderly Breakfast choices are very good but very spaced out over a vast area and tea/coffee stuck in furthest corner Reception staff nice but not overly welcoming or didn’t engage to tell us about pool or spa or restaurant on check in BUT the disappointment for us was the bedroom. We did choose standard but boy was it standard! IKEA like furniture. Cheap and tacky. See photos. Bedroom is tired with touch ups here and there and water leakage marks. The room was dark and dingy and the balcony was very small only looking out on a side street with workmen making noise. The electric sockets were not the best and in poor locations. The bathroom shower was difficult to regulate the water - it ran very hot at times no matter how I adjusted it. There is a glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom with a thin muslin curtain for privacy. But it doesn’t offer a lot of privacy and at night the whole room is illuminated if someone uses toilet which is disturbing for sleepers. The pool bar service was slow and chaotic and the place wasn’t tended to very well clearing tables or debris on the floor Towels are the pool are lovely and large and beds are very nice. Not enough umbrellas though All in all I rate it 3star for the room , service and lack of luxury. Don’t judge a book by its cover"

"Our sececond stay at Melia Marina and it was just as good as the first, Hotel is lovely, bright and clean. All the staff from reception to room maids are friendly,efficient and helpful. Upgraded to the "level" and it is great value for money with rooms overlooking the lovely marina and a great view of Palma at night with the magnificent cathedral lit up. We were bed and breakfast so can only comment on the breakfast food but there is a wonderful selection and it is limitless. Palma is a 25min walk along the beautiful recently refurbished promenade but the bus stop is only about 200yards away and 2euros will get you into the centre of the magnificent city of Palma. Would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again."

"This was our first time staying in a Melia Hotel and we weren't disappointed. From the moment we arrived we felt truly relaxed and at home. We upgraded to the Level Club and we found this great value for money as it included the Marina View, access to the lounge and one visit to the spa. The lounge itself was a great spot with a lovely outdoor terrace and quiet air conditioned space to escape the heat of the day or enjoy some drinks before dinner. They had drinks and snacks available all day including beer and wine. Plus someone always available to provide help and answer questions. The pool area was lovely and clean with great views of the marina. They could do with a few more loungers and umbrellas but the staff were great at clearing towels from loungers if they were unoccupied for a period of time. We had breakfast every day in the main restaurant which had a good choice of both hot and cold food. We did look at what they provided in the level and it was a smaller choice but still pretty substantial. The room itself was lovely, clean and spacious. Air con worked well and the view was just amazing. Well worth upgrading just for the view. The beds were comfortable. There was some minor noise from the street and neighbouring rooms. All the staff we encountered were helpful and professional. There were a number of top rated restaurants within a 15 minute walk along the marina. We loved our stay and can't wait to stay at another Melia."
