"Booked this hotel largely due to the fantastic reviews and I can see why. I did contact the hotel prior and Jessica promptly replied and was helpful. They did mostly accommodate our room request except for one of our rooms was near the elevator but as the hotel was quiet there was no noise with this. I did mention it was my dads birthday and as he didn't drink they said they could pop a non alcohol alternative in the room.
Sadly on arrival nothing was in the room, spoke to the reception they said they would deliver it shortly as it was a miscommunication. They arrived at my dads door with a bottle of Appletiser and some chocolates but never mentioned the birthday so he had no idea this is what it was for. Just a bit disappointing as they could have made more effort here.
Hotel staff were very pleasant, smiley and there was a very happy vibe on arrival. David who checked us in and out was very lovely. No tourist tax to pay which is great. The rooms were average size, not small not big and nicely decorated but very basic. We booked one Teide view and one Sea view and both views were beautiful. It was a pleasure to sit out on our balconies.
This hotel is very peaceful, with lots of lovely birds and no loud guests. It is an older crowd. This was perfect for us. You could hear some noise from the room next door but not too bad at all.
The wifi was excellent. I would say I found it odd for a 4 star hotel to charge for using the safe, I travel a lot and I don't think this is normal. Also deposits for towels and charge for cleaning them seems strange at a 4 star hotel. No tea/coffee facilities etc you again have to pay for that so we just took our own kettle but again not what I would expect for a 4 star hotel. There is no iron in the room but I managed but I do believe you could ask for one, again something I would expect to find in the room of a 4 star hotel. These are not complaints as the hotel is truly lovely but just things I personally feel could be better.
The rooms have an extra door to the hallway which is great as its blocks out any noise from the corridors but generally the hotel is quiet, calm and relaxing anyway.
The shower over bath was hot and powerful and amenities provided which is a nice touch. There was also a bottle of water in the fridge on arrival which was appreciated and there is a small shop nearby where you can also buy such things.
The walk into the main town takes around 20 minutes and is pleasant, lots of steps or hills, easy downwards a bit more difficult coming back but my dad who is 65 had no problem with it at all and there is a free hotel shuttle if you need it.
Good public transport to lots of nice places and very easy to use, the bus stops are close to the hotel. You are walking distance to the fantastic Loro Parque and Playa Jardin which is a nice black sand beach though no sun loungers for hire so take a towel for the sand. Puerto Cruz is a very nice town by the sea with some lovely gardens to visit. The hotels evening entertainment was always live music every night in the bar area which was nice but no shows sadly so we just enjoyed it as background music whilst we had dinner.
We booked half board. Food was fantastic, lots of choice and good quality. The staff were always smiling, welcoming and polite. Not so chatty which is a shame but still very nice. One of the breakfast chefs was notably grumpy but never mind. She still made eggs however you wanted them. Sadly there is no option to dine outdoors which is a shame in such a lovely climate as its nice to dine alfresco. There is just one buffet restaurant where you have every meal, no a la carte meal included just a different restaurant open on a Friday where you can pay to dine
However they do have large windows in the buffet room with lovely views so this made it better. It would be a nice touch to have some relaxing music in the background for breakfast to create a nice atmosphere. No sparkling wine at breakfast either which is always a nice touch. And maybe some candles for the evening as the ones on the tables didn't work and with the lights on it was bit bright. All in all I am glad we chose half board as we looked forward to this each day, Susanna our main server was always a delight and very pleasant. The staff really do make a difference here as they are all serving with a smile.
There is a spa onsite which doesn't belong to the hotel, hotel guests have to pay to use the sauna which is a shame. Treatments are not badly priced and they do daily offers which are good as they are well priced. I couldn't find a good time to book so cannot comment on treatments but the spa staff were nice too.
The pool isn't heated so bit too cold for us but its very relaxing, no loud party music all day long.
The air conditioning in both rooms was not very good at all. I did mention to the reception on our first day but they said it was centralised to 19 degrees and it couldn't be made any cooler. They gave me a fan which helped but really the rooms were too warm which made sleeping a bit more difficult.
All in all I am very glad we booked to stay here. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel welcome and smiled each day. This made such a difference to our stay. I would happily stay here again and would recommend to family, friends and colleagues."
