Port River Hotel and Spa

"Anyone rating this place above 1 has never stayed in a real 5 star hotel this I can guarantee you. Staff - rude and ignorant with the occasional member being ok, shops lined up via the only route to go and get your food (I’ll get to that in a min) that absolutely pester the life out of you to visit their shop with inflated prices and recommending external shops with free transfers that hold you to ransom and don’t let you leave until you’ve bought something. Food - nothing near 5 star never has been never will be, repetitive and bland on all fronts, service staff taking plates than don’t know how to smile. Hotel itself, room was dirty, the mini bar that’s supposed to be filled daily wasn’t, it got that bad I was leaving things on the floor to see if staff actually cleaned it and by the time I left items were still there. When we arrived the hotel was dead like Bon atmosphere whatsoever, bars shut etc staff were rude when asked about as to why it was at 10pm. Entertainment - we was told upon booking it has a full animation team and daily entertainment THIS IS NOT THE CASE, it took me 3 days of complaining just to end up with some miserable guy playing bongos one night, through the day there isn’t even music around pool or bars the place is honestly depressing, as for the animation team there isn’t one there’s some young girl sat in a crèche filled with left over equipment that looks like they found it in Chernobyl. We had a sand storm and severe rain for the first day and a half, we thought brilliant at least there’s an indoor pool, 5 a day the heated indoor pool was colder than the sea in winter, second day when it rained all day they closed the indoor activities, arcades everything was closed so kids had literally nothing to do it was that bad kids were just running riot around the hotel, after the sand storm it took them a further 3 days to even attempt to clean the outdoor pool which was too little too late for me I’d already packed my bags and booked another hotel. Honestly cannot stress enough how bad the hotel is if you are reading this and debating booking trust me pay the extra and go somewhere else. They tried to make amends with us and sent a gift to the room - world’s smallest bottle of wine which is pointless at an all inclusive and some fruit on a plate that had mould on it. The clientele - mostly Eastern Europeans which is where the higher reviews come from, and the low atmosphere like gannets at the buffet with zero manners and you’ll find this a lot at this hotel it’s pushed toward Russians etc The rep inside the hotel - Scam trips that cost way more than external from the hotel we paid hundreds and got taken to some plantation at the side of a road for 10 mins and some dirty shack in the mountains for food We had 5 days of complete hell until we booked another hotel please please take my advice and go somewhere else"

"We arrive at the hotel on 21 of may we stay for 2 weeks.Location was far from shops,that still good.The atmosphere was good we enjoyed a lot the entertainment ,Mario and one more persons i don’t remember him name was doing good joob So funny person and all the time looking to do the best for all the people. Rooms was clean evryday just they don’t moping the floor,i let reception no about how dirty the floor was from day 1 and still nothing And there was one thing what i didn’t like a tall.My daughter tooth came out and fairy bring to her 5€ what her she on table with her tooth and cleaning staff just he take .I spoke on reception and they didn’t due anything.My daughter get so upset and she was crying.When we tips for cleaning staff we are putting on the bed.So yes don’t leave money on table.Food not to bad that still can put more choice for the lids.And some different soups tomato soup just one day with rice another day with pasta .From all of us big thank you to Mario ho done very good we laugh a lot. "This hotel is very nice i wouldn't say 5star more a 4. Mario the entertainer was awesome so welcoming and very friendly 5 star to him!!!! Also mr smiley not his name but can't remember his name he booked you in to the lacart restaurant he helped us with a situation and he was on the ball with it and we so thankful. Food was ok. entertainment was 10 10"
