"Having booked at Regent’s Park we were moved last minute here. The hotel, on the whole was fantastic.
Staff: exquisite. Every staff member whether in the lobby, setting up the cot, during breakfast was fantastic. They were friendly, professional and very helpful.
Location: Good. In a quieter part of London (with a group of nine of us, including a toddler, this suited us) but Kilburn tube station is around the corner making it easy to travel to tourist areas. There is a tesco express a few minutes walk away which was handy. However if you are looking for a closer stay to central for a similar price you may be better off elsewhere. Location doesn’t seem like it’s the safest if you’re intent on exploring past dark.
Room: beds were very comfortable, bathroom was nice and everything was laid out well. However, one area of dissapointment was the phone was dusty and had hair on it. This was particularly problematic given I used the phone a few times and it was situated in between both beds. Otherwise, it seemed quite clean.
Breakfast: as compensation we were offered free breakfast. Breakfast was brilliant and enjoyed by the group. Breakfast times were good with plenty of choice on offer. Juices and glasses were quickly replaced. Was busy during our stay, but this is an observation as opposed to a criticism. I believe breakfast is £18. Getting eggs, avacado and toast with a coffee is likely to set you back a similar amount in London so a buffet breakfast is definitely worth it if you’re considering. No reservations so if you’re in a bigger group like we were, if there are free tables you can pull them together.
Overcharged: having prepaid in full we were charged for our stay. Spoke to the manager subsequently who confirmed a refund had been requested. When calling the hotel I communicated what had happened to the staff member who advised she would speak to her manager. I was on hold for a few minutes at which point it was clear the manager was not aware of the situation. It was disappointing this had not been conveyed to him and meant I had to explain twice, surely this should have been conveyed whilst on hold. But the manager handled the matter professionally and swiftly.
Other: bar is expensive. Brother paid £12 for a single vodka and £7 for a lemonade (I know, what was he thinking!) but this would be expected so can’t mark it down for this. As a Christian, I wasn’t happy to see the book of Mormon in the hotel, but I guess others might not be happy to see the Bible and we do live in a free country so it is what it is.
Overall: fantastic hotel with great staff. Only issues were the dusty phone (which just needed a quick wipedown!) and being charged again when the room was already paid for. Would I stay here again? Coming with a toddler meant the quieter area was better, but it meant a little bit more travel. I would probably prefer to be closer to central to cut down on tube travelling."
